Cheap Food Malé – Escazú, San José, Costa Rica

Rotisserie chicken to die for.

This open-air restaurant has some of the best wood-fired rotisserie chicken around. Even the sides were something to write home about.

  1. This is great info. i wish I knew about it before my last trip to Escazu in Feb. We really had a hard time trying to find a good local place to eat that wasn’t touristy because of our limited Spanish. The taxi drivers kept bringing us to chain restaurants because they figured that was what we wanted. That couldn’t have been farther from the truth so I guess learning Spanish is now going to be a priority. In Mexico we could always get by with just knowing the basic words, but not so in Costa Rica!

  2. Thanks Cheryl, glad you found it useful. Knowing Spanish enough to try with the Ticos will do WONDERS for your visits. They are very nice and love to help you practice. And finding cheap food in Escazu especially is hard to do, so being able to talk to taxi drivers is a must.
